EMDR Therapy and THERAPY intensives for women and teen girls in cincinnati and online across Ohio

Now is the time to move confidently in the direction of who you’re becoming.

Hi, I’m Sakina.

You feel like the path in front of you is dark or unclear. Like there’s not enough light to find your way.

Sometimes life has a way, due to stress or overwhelm, of dimming your intrinsic light. Or maybe you are still trying to recover from or move through difficult experiences or complex emotions from the past.

I see you. I’m here to help you navigate your way.

You’re likely the ‘strong one’ in your family or friend group—the one who has it all together on paper, yet feels a quiet, persistent pulse of anxiety beneath the surface. I understand the weight because I’ve spent my career, and life, navigating the pressure of having high expectations of myself and showing up authentically.

I know what it’s like coming to terms with the fact that talking, analyzing, or having the tools isn’t getting you past the places where you feel stuck. I sought out training in EMDR because it helps clear the nervous system by reprocessing emotions and memories interfering from the past. I feel strongly about meeting my clients where they are, providing a place of rest, support, and grounding in order to do the deeper—and most important—healing work.

I provide space for you to bring all of yourself, meeting you compassionately with human grace. Finding a therapist who understands or can meet you in your values and worldview is not always easy. I am passionate about providing my clients with empathy, weaving evidence-based therapy practices with human story, cultural humility and spiritual integration.

I help my clients identify patterns that are holding them back, develop tools to calm difficult emotions and establish new habits for long-term, holistic well-being. I hold a light to both what is and is not working and provide tools and support as you lead the way, at your own pace.

Munira means “illuminated,” or “radiant.” Using evidence-based approaches rooted in wisdom and spiritual grounding, I serve as your guide as you navigate your own path of healing and growth. I am honored to walk beside the teens and women I work with who are ready to shed old stories and habits and confidently walk towards the life they desire to live. Ways that I support include:

  • Help clients develop and transform self-awareness of patterns in beliefs, thoughts, and relationships

  • Help clients develop tools for calming the nervous system and regulating emotions

  • Provide empathy and honor your personal experiences, values and resilience

  • Support you in processing at your own pace with kindness and compassion

My Approach

Finding the right therapist doesn’t have to be complicated. I meet you where you are, and walk with you as you navigate your own healing journey.

My approach begins with getting to know what matters to you, what your goals are for therapy, and building a strong therapeutic relationship. I aim to listen carefully, understand your story, and help you identify and untangle the patterns that may be showing up. We can then begin to identify the beliefs, relationships or boundaries that would better serve you and help you begin to embody them in your daily life.

I use a combination of EMDR, CBT and trauma-informed approaches to help clients work through difficult emotions and triggers, and gently reprocess and overcome past narratives that are keeping them and their nervous systems stuck.

I provide clients with tools to calm overwhelming emotions, manage their stress, and practice self-compassion during life’s difficult moments.

When I’m Not in the Office

When I’m not in my therapy office seeing clients or teaching college students, you can find me savoring a slow morning with a good cup of coffee, or rediscovering the joy of a good book. As a busy mother of three children, I have learned to create moments to take a breath and reconnect to myself and what brings me joy. I value lifelong learning—not just in my clinical practice—but also in the small, quiet lessons that life tends to teach us when we are still enough to be present. I am also a firm believer in the healing power of the creative process. Whether I’m experimenting with a new hands-on project, immersing myself in nature, or exploring a new place, I value the small, intentional acts that help us slow down, notice the gift of the present moment, and reconnect with our Creator and our purpose.
